Here's a simple liver detox juice recipe using fennel, cilantro, kale, ginger and moringa:
Ingredients:
- 1 small bunch of organic kale
- 1 handful of organic cilantro leaves
- 1 organic fennel bulb, chopped
- 1 organic ginger root (peeled or not) - you choose the level of spice you want. I love spice so I use one whole medium ginger root.
- 1 teaspoon of moringa powder
- 1-2 cups of spring water water or coconut water (adjust for desired consistency)
- Optional: a squeeze of key lime juice for added flavor and tang
Instructions if using a blender:
- Wash the kale, cilantro, and fennel thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or debris. You can use baking soda and vinegar with water to remove any pesticides. Leave it soaked for 15 minutes then rinse thoroughly with purified water or any clean water source. Preferably not tap water as the vegetables will absorb the toxins in it.
- Remove the tough stems from the kale leaves and chop the leaves into smaller pieces.
- Place the kale, cilantro, fennel, ginger and moringa powder into a blender.
- Add spring water or coconut water to the blender, starting with 1 cup, and blend on high until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, you can add more water until you reach your desired consistency.
- Taste the juice and adjust the flavor if needed. You can add a squeeze of key lime for a refreshing twist.
- Once blended to your liking, pour the juice into your mason jar or glass. Depending on your blender type, this would be consumed more closely to a smoothie due to the fiber still in your blend. If you'd like it to have more of a juice consistency, then I recommend purchasing a milk cloth or fine mesh strainer to strain your juice to omit the fiber.
Enjoy immediately for maximum freshness and nutrient intake before oxidation happens. Oxidation happens once when break the barrier on any vegetable or fruit which begins the nutrient depletion phase. Think of oxidation as the brown tone apples or bananas get after you cut them.
