Chrondrus Crispus (Irish Moss) - What's Real and What's Fake?

Greetings and blessings, fam! It's great to have you in this space with I as we speak on the topic of the upful powerhouse of Chondrus Crispus also known as Irish Moss or "sea moss from Caribbean Islands". I’m sure many of you’ve heard of it before but for those that haven’t, get ready for the answer to your prayers!

It has received much awareness in the past two years from Dr. Sebi, a divine human being that has supported those to heal many different diseases, such as: Aids, HIV, Herpes, blindness, diabetes, cancer, tumors, and more. 

There are a few distinctions and types of Chondrus Crispus that we'll go over in this space. Many of those have come to believe that the only Chondrus Crispus (Irish Moss/Sea Moss) is the gold thin one, or it needing to be stated as "Sea Moss", when that is not so.

Now, let's first speak on the facts of where this red algae originated and the types of Chondrus Crispus (Irish Moss/Sea Moss) there are. 

WHAT IS CHONDRUS CRISPUS/ IRISH MOSS/ SEA MOSS?

Chondrus crispus is a green and red seaweed, which are abundant along the North Atlantic coasts, Europe, Africa and Ireland. Sea Moss is a generic term for a species of red algae and has numerous health benefits such as the ridding of herpes, diabetes, mental illness, bone health, and much more. 

Chondrus crispus became commonly known as Irish moss as a result of Ireland’s potato famine during the late 1800’s. The people of Ireland began eating the growing sea moss to avoid starvation and the name Irish moss became the popular name. Its natural balance mucilage and nutrients helped the Irish support their health.

WHY IS IRISH MOSS DIVINE?

It revitalizes and strengthens the body on a cellular level and is good for thyroid disorders. It rids of inflammation and mucus throughout the body, so serves those experiencing dis-ease of any kind, bronchitis, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, tumors, etc.

It's also an amazing source of calcium, magnesium, chlorophyll, phosphorus, potassium, iodine, and sulfur, just to name a few. WHAT ABOUT THEIR COLORS?

In South America, Africa, the Caribbean and Asia a particular type of red algae grows in their warm water, which supports in the color of the gold and green color. While, the red algae that naturally grows in colder waters along the North Atlantic coast are red and darker in color and hold more oxygen. Overall, it's colors range from greenish-yellow, to red, to dark purple, to purplish-brown.

The sea moss or red algae that grows in the Caribbean are other forms of red algae which all are a part of the Rhodophyta division of algae. There are over 7000 species of red algae, including Gracilaria.

Although, this form is a different type red algae species than the Chrondus crispus, they contain similar properties and serve the body divinely. 

Studies have been completed stating that they have connected the optical response of Chondrus crispus with a multilayered structure in the algae's composition. This multilayered structure in the algae is responsible for the structural coloration. Comparison of sections from the base, middle and tip of the algae demonstrate that loss of the blue and red color is due to the reduction in the number of layers as well as degradation of their uniformity. In addition, water is a critical component in the color formation. Lastly, what is so amazing about these alive plants is that structural color in Chondrus crispus functions to reduce the absorption of UV—blue radiation! Each color can serve the human body in it's own divine ways and the darker sea moss is great for those expereincing cancer and/or radiation.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

Chrondus crispus and other forms of red algae are shaped by wider, flat, fan shaped tops of the algae. Some other red algae that are similar to Chrondus crispus have similar fan shaped tops, but have thin finger-like tops. Dr. Sebi described the sea moss as having slender finger shaped tops, which points to the other type of red algae the commonly grows in warmer waters around South American and the Caribbean. 

Some of those are marketing a brand of sea moss called “purple sea moss” as being true sea moss or true Chrondus crispus. Although it is a sea moss it is not the same as the scientifically defined Chrondus crispus that grows in cold water climates. 

AVOID MAN MADE CHONDRUS CRISPUS / IRISH MOSS

Steer clear of consuming pool grown sea moss. Whether the red algae sea moss you buy is technically Chrondus crispus or another form of red algae, be aware in not consuming or buying pool grown seaweed, of any kind!

Dr. Sebi recommended to not consume sea moss created in brine water, even if it was taken from the ocean. Pool grown sea moss is lighter in color, even white, and can be extremely salty, unable to grind down, and is deficient in minerals.

Irish Moss can also be created in sea farms to support in the harvesting. Although it  grows in the ocean it doesn’t grow the way nature, source, Universe, God, whatever is there for you, had intended to. Sea farms make their moss on ropes rather than harvesting naturally on rocks.
